Kihei is a veritable tropical paradise. Many of the more than six million tourists who come to Hawaii each year dont know what theyre missing by not putting Kihei on their agendas. Located in the center of the western coast of the second-largest Hawaiian Island of Maui, Kihei is one of the best lesser-known treasures in the state of Hawaii. Although not as popular as Waikiki Beach, thousands come every year to enjoy the beach, the sun and the surf of Kihei.

With some of the most perfect weather in the world, its not hard to see why so many people come to Kihei. The temperature can vary between 53°F and 93°F most of the year, and its rainfall totals less than six inches a year. The sun often shines in Kihei even when the rest of the island of Maui experiences showers. No matter what time of year you choose to go to Kihei, the weather is likely to be good.

Experiencing Kihei
Kiheis beaches are the towns most attractive feature. The sands on the beaches at Kihei are almost pure white, making for a beautiful and unique scene as you gaze out into the azure waters of Maalaea Bay. If youre out in the water swimming, snorkeling or surfing its even more amazing to look back at the shore and see the beautiful sand against the backdrop of the lovely flora of the barely developed coastline at Kihei.

There is a lot to do while vacationing in Kihei aside from lounging on the beach and enjoying the pristine weather. One can enjoy shopping in one of Kiheis 10 shopping centers or going out to one of Kiheis fine restaurants. At night, there is enough nightlife to appeal to anyones tastes. There are bars, cafés, concert venues and frequent special events that are sure to entertain people from all walks of life.

There is also a lot to do on the remainder of the island of Maui. Theres much to explore in this island filled with microclimates ranging from tropical rainforest to arid desert-like regions. On the coasts, its possible to whale-watch during the winter months. Humpback Whales swim down from Alaska and stay between November and May, and can be readily seen in places such as Maalaea Bay.

Experiencing Kihei Accommodations
There are dozens of hotels and condos available in Kihei, ranging from your basic vacation getaway to luxurious grand hotels with suites, swimming pools, gardens and amenities such as spas available. Hotels can start as low as $80 a night, but the average hotel will cost you around $150-$200 per night. All hotels are within at most 10 minutes from the beach by foot, and many of them have fantastic views to enjoy.

Bed and breakfasts and condos are available to stay in as well. While B&Bs tend to be more expensive, they tend to be more intimate, allowing guests to get to know one another a bit better. Condos are even better if youre looking for more privacy than a hotel room might offer. Both tend to be nestled away in quieter areas around Kihei Beach.

Reserving Kihei Accommodations
Since Kihei is such a popular tourist destination, finding a place to stay can sometimes be difficult. If youd like to spend your vacation in Kihei, its important to know that youll need to make reservations months in advance due to the popularity of this tourist destination. Making reservations for hotels or condos can be made easily online. Its better to take care of accommodations in advance so all thats left to do is to enjoy your vacation.
